Thank you Dr. Woodson

Carter G. Woodson is the reason why Americans celebrate black history month and why we have the Study of Black History being taught. He was a child from former slaves from Kentucky and earned his PH.D from Harvard University. Threw out his studies he was disheartened by the fact that there was little to no history about how Black Americans has helped shape the country. He then went on to establish the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (now called the Association for the Study  of Afro-American Life and History) and the Journal of Negro History in 1915. In 1926 he then launched Negro History Week to bring awareness to the contribution of Black people who help mold America to what it is to day. The second week in February was chosen to represent Negro History Week because it marks the Birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass; two men who have had a major impact in the progression of black people.

With all that said starting today I will be posting Black history facts every couple of days I will be posting about a certain person, place, or fact that relates to black people.

Hope Y'all Enjoy
