"The newest pack of black models storming the catwalks in full embrace of their natural hairstyles"
Im not a big fan of Vogue Italia only because they seem a bit wishy washy as for as their relations with black people. They can sometimes come across as racist, bigots, and just ignorant with postings of articles like this that was later taken down. But surprisingly I enjoyed this article about the presence of natural hair being on the runway even though I don't think it's a trend, but i'll leave that for another day. Its interesting to me that designers are opting for a more diverse look in black women. I get so tried of seeing models rocking their retired weaves over damaged scalps down the runway. Is showing off your natural hair that much of a disgrace to you? Stars such as Tyra Bank, Eve, and Naomi Campbell have fought alopecia, due to wearing weaves, openly with the public. "It is uplifting then to see the newest pack of Black models storming the catwalks in full embrace of their natural hairstyles, from cropped Afros, flat tops, to buzzed scalps--and in turn being embraced by ." Hopefully models such as Harieth Paul, Ajak Deng, Akuol de Mabior and Nikia Phoenix and celebrities such as Viola Davis, Esperaza Spalding and Soloange will not only inspire other model to opt for natural hair, but kinky-curly haired women as well.
