Current occupation-
Fashion design student/Intern at Proenza Schouler from Arkansas.

Career and/or personal aspirations-
To become the creative director of an established label, and reinvent/modernize its image

What inspired you to pursue a career in fashion?-
There was never any "ah-ha" moment. Fashion has always been a driving force in my life, and not necessarily in dressing myself, but having a critical eye of the world around me, and wanting to be a part of the change going on in the industry.

What is one thing that you crave the most, but you cant get in New York?-
A hug from my mom

Where do you find inspiration?-

The most random things. I love museums, but I rarely find inspiration there. I love vintage references, and bizarre things that catch my eye. Sometimes a location or a space will inspire me, and I approach the design process as if I am going to show a collection there. I am always looking at things and thinking, "How can I apply this to fashion? What can I do to integrate this into my designs?"

What are some
fashion trends that you're tired of?-

I love a lot of things that are going on right now, but anything that has become super overdone and just needs a rest. I think studs and a lot of tribal references need to be put down for a couple of seasons.

What is your personal style quirk
I never leave home without my round sunglasses!
I love classic menswear pieces, and try to approach dressing from a playful angle. Messing with proportions is a lot of fun, and I think it's the one thing in fashion that men have more freedom with than women.
I also do LOTS of vintage/thrift shopping. I think pieces have so much more personality and energy when they've been worn out a little.

What is the most underrated item in menswear?-

I think guys really underestimate neckwear! A good tie can boost an outfit so much.
Also, smelling good and looking cleaned up is the best thing a guy can do. I'm all about a pulled together look.

What is the best advice someone has ever given you?-

"Don't forget where you've come from." Remembering how small/clueless you used to be is the fastest way to check yourself and push you to work harder.

What advice would you like to give (career, personal, fashion related etc.)
You are your only obstacle. Just trust yourself, be confident in your decisions, and everyone else will do the same.
