Bettie Page Launch Party

Sunday, February 10, 2013

Yesterday my friend Trenez and I had the privilege of attending Bettie Page on the Bowery, celebrating New York Fashion Week at it’s newest flagship location. There is a special place in my heart for anything of the 1940’s/50’s. Woman in that era were resembled goddesses and they exuded such a vibrancy and possessed true confidence. Due to me not finding the right outfit to put on, even though I had it picked out two days in advanced, I arrived thirty minutes after they finished their spring ’13 fashion show.  I was really looking forward to watching it as well as meeting some of the models whose hair and make-up was done by Patricia Fields. The Atmosphere was amazing. Needless to say,  I was in pin-up girl heaven. Most of the attendees were beautifully dressed from head to toe in their best 1950’s getup. Some ladies even sported lushes electric blue, bright red, and fuschia colored locks. The store itself was adorned with Bettie Page memorabilia and cool posters of Bettie during her modeling days.  Ya’ll I swear, there wasn’t a single dress from their Fall 2013 collection that I didn’t want. Everything was beautiful and so well made. Because of my body type garments with that iconic 1950’s cut and silhouette tends to flatter me the most. I honestly feel that those types of garments flatter most women the best.  The Bettie Page sales girls were amazing as well. They were really cool and chill and most of them had these bad-ass tattoo designs that were giving me some serious tattoo inspiration. All in all the event was great! I had a fun time mingling with the guest and associates and I can’t wait until the store opens.
